WILDCATS GRAB WIN OVER LIBERTY-EYLAU
The No. 10 Sulphur Springs Wildcats extended their winning streak to seven games Friday with a 66-46 home win over the Liberty-Eylau Leopards. The Wildcats would score early and often, and never let their guard down, leading to the win.
The first quarter would set the tone for the game, as the Wildcats got off to a fast start, while the Leopards struggled. The Wildcats would lead 16-5 as the first quarter ended.
The second quarter would be more competitive, as the Leopards attempted to fight back. Despite this, the Wildcats still outscored the Leopards 19-18 in the second quarter, extending their lead to 35-23 going into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the third quarter would be another close battle, as both teams continued their stellar gameplay. The Wildcats would outscore the Leopards 13-9 in the third quarter, increasing their lead to 48-32 as the third quarter ended.
The fourth quarter was another intense battle, as both teams continued to play at a high level. In the end, the Wildcats outscored the Leopards 18-14 in the fourth quarter, closing out a 66-46 home victory.
Branson Lynn finished as the top scorer with 19 points. Not far behind him was Kordrick Turner with 16 points.
The double-digits didn't stop there, as Parker Whisenhunt finished with 14 and Cole Theofiledes tallied 11. Rounding out the scoring was DJ Wilkerson with three, Theo McKelvey with two, and Macaulin Rollison with one.
With the win, the Wildcats are up to 7-0 in district play and 25-7 overall. Their next game will be Tuesday, when they travel to Paris to face off against the North Lamar Panthers.
