Hodges, Jefferson record double-digit assists The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats got off to a great start to their season Tuesday with a four-set victory over their longtime rival, the Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers. They would play strong all game long and never got flustered, leading to the win. The first set would be a competitive one, as both teams battled hard. The Lady Wildcats would win the first set 25-17, taking an early 1-0 lead. The next set was once again competitive, as the strong gameplay from both teams continued. The Lady Tigers would win the second set 25-19, tying the score at 1-1. The third set was also competitive, with both teams fighting hard to take the lead. The Lady Wildcats won the third set 2516, pulling ahead 2-1. In the fourth set, the Lady Wildcats would build off of their newfound momentum, taking their game to a level that the Lady Tigers couldn’t keep up with. The Lady Wildcats would win the fourth set 25-12, winning the game 3-1. Trinity Jefferson recorded a double-double with 10 assists and 10 digs, also adding four kills, two aces, and two blocks. Harper Hodges led in assists with 12, also tallying three digs. Rainey Johnson was a consistent presence with nine kills, eight digs, three aces, and one block. Kyra Carter was another key presence with nine digs, eight kills, two blocks, and one assist. Kate Monk finished with eight kills, two blocks, and two digs. Madison Jeter would come up with eight digs, one ace, and one assist. Tessa Allen recorded four digs, two aces, and one assist. Lauren Dittrich finished with four digs and one assist. Mary Taylor would end the game with three kills, two blocks, and two digs. Kaylee Carter tallied one kill and one assist. With the win, the Lady Wildcats begin the season at 1-0 overall. They resumed action Thursday through Saturday by hosting the Sulphur Springs Tournament.
