Lady Wildcats play well in recent games

LADY WILDCATS PLAY WELL IN RECENT GAMES

WILLS POINT — The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats resumed action this past weekend by competing in the Wills Point Tournament. Also, they played a non-district game against the Commerce Lady Tigers, which they would win in four sets. For their first tournament game, the Lady Wildcats took on the Rains Lady Wildcats. Sulphur Springs would win the game in three sets, with set scores being 25-23, 21- 25, and 2520. Trinity Jefferson would lead the way with 10 assists, six digs, and four kills. Tessa Allen would come away with seven digs, two aces, and one assist. Rainey Johnson had a solid game with seven digs, five kills, four assists, and one ace. Aaliyah Cheatum tallied the most kills with six. Mary Taylor tallied five kills and three digs. Kate Monk finished with four digs, three kills, and two assists. Lauren Dittrich finished with three digs and two assists. Madison Jeter would tally three aces, one dig, and one assist. Other contributors include Harper Hodges with three assists, one ace, and one dig, Kaylee Carter with two kills and one dig, and Kyra Carter with one kill. In their next tournament game, the Lady Wildcats took on the Terrell Lady Tigers. The Lady Wildcats picked up their second consecutive victory, winning in two sets. Set scores were 2515 and 26-24. Jefferson came up with 12 assists, six digs, three aces, and one kill. Johnson finished with 10 digs, nine kills, and one assist, coming one kill shy of a double- double. Taylor totaled five kills, one block, one dig, and one assist. Allen and Jeter totaled five digs each. Cheatum finished with four kills, two digs, and one block. Hodges tallied three digs and two assists. digs and three aces in the Lady Wildcats' four-set win. Other contributors to the win include Kaylee Carter with three kills, Kyra Carter with two kills and one dig, Dittrich with one dig, and Monk with one kill. The next day, the Lady Wildcats took a break from the tournament to welcome the Commerce Lady Tigers to Wildcat Gym for a non-district game. Despite a slow start, the Lady Wildcats shook back from early hiccups to take a four-set victory. The first set began with the Lady Tigers jumping out to an early 6-2 lead. The Lady Wildcats would respond with a 5-2 scoring run to trim the score to 9-7. Though a 4-3 scoring run for the Lady Wildcats brought the score within 12-11, the Lady Tigers would embark on an 8-5 scoring run to extend their lead to 20-16. After the Lady Wildcats added another point, the Lady Tigers scored the final five points of the set, winning 25-17 and taking the early lead. The second set began with the Lady Wildcats jumping out to an early 3-1 lead. However, the Lady Tigers would respond with an 8-3 scoring run to pull ahead 9-6. Determined to stay in the game, the Lady Wildcats tied the score at 1111 with a 5-2 scoring run. From there, they would go on a 13-1 scoring run to extend their lead to 2412. Though the Lady Tigers added three more points, that only delayed the inevitable, as the Lady Wildcats scored the final point of the set, winning 25-15 and evening the score at 1-1. The third set would begin with both teams battling for control early on, leading to a 5-5 tie. After that, the Lady Wildcats went on a 9-2 scoring run to establish a 14-7 lead. Following a 5-1 scoring run from Commerce that trimmed the score to 1512, the Lady Wildcats increased their lead to 21-13 with a 6-1 scoring run. After the Lady Tigers cut the score to 22-19, the Lady Wildcats scored the final three points of the set, winning 25-19 and taking a 2-1 lead. The fourth set would start with a 3-3 tie from both teams before a 6-1 scoring run from the Lady Wildcats brought the score to 9-4. This was followed by a 5-3 scoring run that increased the lead to 14-7. The Lady Tigers weren’t ready to quit just yet, as they went on a 7-2 scoring run to pull within 16-14. But from there, the Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Tigers 9-1 the rest of the way, winning the fourth set 25-15 and winning the game in four sets. Jefferson would tally 17 assists, nine digs, eight kills, one block, and one ace. Allen recorded a team-high 17 digs, also adding three aces. Johnson also had double-digit digs with 15, also adding eight kills, five assists, three aces, and two blocks. Hodges would tally seven digs, seven assists, and three aces. Cheatum totaled five kills, one block, and one dig. Kyra Carter finished with five digs, four kills, and two aces. Dittrich finished with five digs and three aces. Monk totaled four kills, two blocks, and one dig. Kaylee Carter had three kills, three blocks, one dig, and one assist. Jeter totaled one kill and one dig. The next day, the Lady Wildcats resumed action in the Wills Point Tournament by playing the Carrollton Creekview Lady Mustangs. Creekview would hand the Lady Wildcats a two-set loss, with set scores being 6-25 and 17-25. Jefferson would record four digs, two aces, and one kill. Kaylee Carter totaled three kills and one dig. Hodges would tally three digs and two assists. Other contributors include Allen with two digs and one ace, Kyra Carter with two digs and one kill, Johnson with two assists, one ace, and one kill, and Taylor with one dig. In the following game, the Lady Wildcats played the host team, the Wills Point Lady Tigers. They would rebound with a two set win in that game. In their final tournament game, the Lady Wildcats played the Ennis Lady Lions. They would win that game in two sets, with set scores being 25-17 and 2927. Jefferson led with 13 assists, seven digs, five kills, and one ace. Allen totaled eight digs, two aces, two kills, and one assist. Johnson finished with eight digs, four kills, three assists, and one ace. Kyra Carter tallied seven kills, two aces, and two digs. Hodges finished with six assists, three digs, and one ace. Jeter and Dittrich totaled four digs apiece. Kaylee Carter recorded three kills and three digs. Taylor totaled three kills and two digs. Monk recorded two kills and two digs. With these results, the Lady Wildcats are now 10-6 on the season. They resumed action Tuesday, welcoming the Ford Lady Panthers to Wildcat Gym
