WILDCATS TAKE ROAD WIN OVER L-E, 52-34
TEXARKANA — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats picked up their third straight win Friday with a 52-34 home win over the Liberty-Eylau Leopards. After a tightly contested first quarter, the Wildcats would turn up the heat the rest of the way, eventually picking up another win.
The first quarter would be a close battle between both teams, as they played well from the beginning. Both teams scored two touchdowns each, but a two-point conversion from the Wildcats gave them a 15-14 lead as the first quarter ended.
The second quarter would see the Wildcats play well on offense, and the defense did an equally great job of limiting the Leopards. The Wildcats outscored the Leopards 21-8 in the second quarter, extending their lead to 36-22 going into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the third quarter would see both teams slow down on offense, as the defenses played well. Despite this, the Wildcats still outscored the Leopards 7-6 in the third quarter, increasing their lead to 43-28.
The fourth quarter would see the Wildcats’ defense hold off the Leopards, helping keep the game in their favor. The Wildcats outscored the Leopards 9-6 in the fourth quarter, capping off a 52-34 win.
Brady Driver completed 12 of 17 passes for 189 yards, throwing three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed nine times for 31 yards and scored an additional two touchdowns on the ground.
